Now that is headline news!!!

I am here procrastinating at work and thought I would kill some time reading the daily headlines, but again I was extremely disappointed. In a planet as populated as ours, you would think that there would be something interesting or even educational out there to view. Alas, the two top international headlines were relating to the Pope’s health and the world’s greatest baby sitter, Michael Jackson.

“Fears Pope John Paul’s health is deteriorating” – Wow! That comes as a shock to me because he looked so healthy for so long, I never would have seen this coming. The Pope must be about 157 years old now, because as long as I can recall he has looked no better than death warmed over.

I will give him credit that he has lasted this long, but at the same time it is disheartening to a fellow like me with little faith in religion. If a guy this tight with JC is being dragged along in pain before being let go, I guess I don’t have too much luck in being let go easy when it’s time for me to take the big sleep.

“Flight attendant says Jackson accuser was rude, demanding” - Now here’s some top quality news reporting. I don’t know about the rest of you out there, but if I was 13 years old, dying of cancer and some white plastic woman who used to be a black man was abusing me; chances are I would be rude and demanding as well. If there is a hell, you can bet your last silver dollar that when you are spending eternity there you will be roasting your marshmallows off the flames of burning US lawyers.

It amazes me of how much of a joke the legal system has become, “…accuser was rude, demanding”, so that means what? The kid could not have possibly been molested by Michael Jackson because he was rude; because everyone knows that when Jackson wants to use a kid as his private toilet he doesn’t like to use the rude ones! Bottom line, in a perfect world Michael Jackson would have been sentenced to a gory public execution 10 years ago. But, we don’t live in a perfect world… so we will have to sit down for a couple of years as this trial and it's corresponding bogus headlines drag on. In the end our friendly neighborhood pedophile will be set free to moonwalk all up and down your kid’s ass.

The phrase, "Funny 'cause it's true" comes to mind

Some Personal Thoughts of the Moment

Thursday, March 24, 2005 | 1 comments »

Life is short, life is what you make it and often life is what happens when you are busy making other plans. I would like to think that I make the most of my life and that each day I try to live life to the fullest - there is even a piece of permanent ink on my arm that tries to convey that, “Live for the day”. But, As much as we all like to think that we are somewhat immortal, any day that we awake it could be our last, so enjoy yourself while you are on this earth and don’t have any regrets.

Five years ago today at 5:06am, I gripped my fathers 42 year old hand until it slipped from mine as he took his last dying breath. One would like to ask what I, a kid of 20 years of age with a 17 and 14 year old sister along with a 45 year old mother could have possibly done to deserve to watch a man with so much life to give, to wither away from Cancer. Simple, that’s life.

You don’t ask for everything that life throws at you, you don’t map out your destiny you just accept what happens. Whenever life gets you down you just have to realise that I could be a lot worse and to make yourself stronger. If it wasn’t for the bad times you wouldn’t appreciate the good times.

At the ripe age of 25, I feel lucky to have traveled as much as I have and to have met as many interesting people as I have. It has made me a better accepting person, and to not blow my head up too much, if there were more people in the world like me, the world would be a hell of a better place. I don’t have gripes with any person or any culture, I accept everyone for who they are. Most of our problems in the world today relate to our misunderstanding of each other, if only more people would reach out to their fellow man, we would not be in the state we are today – everyone just wants to be loved.

My passion for traveling, meeting new people and enjoying life come from my father. I remember being told at a young age that traveling is the best education that you could ever give yourself. I feel fortunate for my parents brining me and my sisters on trips to expand our minds and too see the different cultures are and how much the world has to offer.

As I sit here today in a hell of a lot of pain from my recent oral surgery I had been reflecting a lot on the last five years of me life. My father was so interested in everything that I did and encouraged me with everything and anything that I pursued in life, he may not have agreed with it all, but he always supported me.

I remember when my sisters and I had our own private telephone line upstairs. Me and a friend of mine were up in my room in the attic with the stereo cranking (properly Pantera or Sepultura or some other metal noise), when the telephone rings, my buddy picks it up and said it was my father calling and that he sounded pissed. I pick up the phone and dad tells me to either turn the music UP or turn if off because he can’t hear it good enough downstairs and that the guitar work was awesome.

I remember back in my junior / high school days when my friends and I were addicted to heavy metal and growing our hair long. So many of my friends parents were furious and made them cut their hair. I recall when my hair was getting a little long and my father challenges me to a bet to see who could grow the longest hair, not something you would expect to hear from an Investigator for the Federal Government.

I remember being 15 years old and the family was on a vacation in the wonderful city of Montreal. After a day of walking through the streets we all come back to the Hotel room. Dad tells Mom that he wants to take me out walking around the city for a little while longer. The second the Hotel door closes, he looks at me with a devilish grin and says, “What bar do you want to go to!” We proceed down to the main club district in downtown and try to get into hopping nightclub, of course me being 15 years old with a baseball hat on and scruffy hair, the bouncer wouldn’t let us in. My father reaches into his pocket and pulls out a thick roll of bills and slips a couple of 20’s to the bouncer. We proceed into the club and immediately get a couple of beers, when I see Dad walking out onto the dance floor talking to some hot French girls and pointing out to the nervous 15 year old sitting next to bar asking them to dance with me… The night proceeds to a high class strip club down the street were again Dad slips a couple of bills into the bouncers pocket to get me in through the doors. I won’t get into too much description here, but one can only imagine the smile on my face being 15 years old and getting endless dances from the most amazing strippers in the world.

I could write for hours about stories that I clearly remember about my Dad and me. There are people out there that would think that a lot of things might be unacceptable for a young boy, but I think in the end that I have turned out to be a decent person. I attribute this for being shown the other “real” side of life while at the same time being forced to take school and life achievement as the main aspect of your life (work hard and play hard and the world is yours).

Wherever I go in life and whatever I end up amounting to I know that the musician, artist, writer, comic, entrepreneur, genius and loving father Daniel Wayne Feltham is watching over me and if I am lucky I will be amount to half of the person that he was.

Lips, Teeth and Gums

It seems like everyday I see more and more fat people. Waddling around, breathing up all the good air, taking up too much space next to me on planes, and stinking up the bathroom everyday at work after lunch. I think I would make an awesome fat person, since it seems to be so much easier to eat like a pig everyday.

Why I am thinking about fat people you may ask? Simple. The Dominos delivery immigrant is on the way over here with a large pizza, cinna sticks, 4 cans of coke and an order of chicken kickers! (The food of Champions - I am guessing 8 out of 10 Olympic athletes eat a similar meal before running the 100 metres). After 12 tonight I can not eat or drink, so I am stockpiling myself with unhealthy food. I am getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and since they are growing in sideways it should be a good and painful time with my friend the dentist.

Let's hope my mouth heals fast, I can not go too long without food, high metabolism you see... But, hopefully the Doc will provide me with some good meds to slow that down though :) However with my luck the Doc will screw up the procedure, remove all my teeth and have me looking like Lips, Teeth and Gums there below...

Time to go clubbing... Seals that is!!!

DFO announced today that the seal hunt will go ahead and the quota will be 320,000 for this season. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Paul Watson!!! Once again your efforts were futile, and to think you even brought MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) up to the Island with you this time around... Boo, hoo, hoo... (http://stjohns.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=nf-seal-hunt-20050323)

I am happy to hear about this as the "Save the Seals" campaign is a crock of shit. It's a hunt like any other meat market that helps a lot of our poor fisherman earn an extra dollar. Anyway, below I copied an email that I sent out to some people earlier this month.

March 15th, 2005 will be a global
day of action to end the Canadian seal hunt
. In Washington D.C., there will
be a major demonstration at the Canadian embassy. Internationally, our country
will be portrayed as perpetrators of another holocaust in the animal kingdom.

The use of the image of the harp seal white coat is nothing more than a
cash cow for corruptive and deceitful organizations such as The American Humane
Society and Green Peace. The uneducated and naïve international community is
made to believe that the seal population is near extinction, when in reality the
herd size from
1999 numbers
extends over 5.2 million!
(estimates for the current population have ranged
up to 8 million).

How many other animals such as cattle, pigs, and chickens are continuously
slaughtered for human consumption only a daily basis? There is no difference!!!
The only distinction is that this done behind closed doors opposed to the
Canadian seal hunt which is done in the open. Sealing is a generally very humane
activity as compared to any number of activities that go unnoticed by these
numbskulls.

The world has been told by these organizations that this is a “senseless
and unnecessary slaughter”. I ask the Paris Hilton’s, Leonardo Dicaprio’s and
any other misinformed celebrity that has tagged their name to the “save the
seals” cause to take a look a real endangered species – The Newfoundland
Outport. Have them visit a small community in our proud province and explain to
a local fisherman that when he risks his life each winter on the ice flows in
the most brutal working conditions know to man, only for a means to put food on
his table and roof over his children’s head that what he is doing is senseless
and unnecessary.

Sealing is a 400 year old industry and I know how important it is to the
traditional way of life and to thousands of people in Newfoundland – it is a
part of our heritage. On the “Day of Action” I will also be taking my own day of
action to defend Canadian sealers…

I encourage everyone to purchase some sort of seal product on this “day of
action” to show support for first nations people and Canadians who are involved
in the harvest.

If that doesn't catch you attention, I would be hard pressed to know what does catch your attention?

Nice title to have for a MSN name don't you think? My friends are high class as you can tell, 'cause one of them actually has that for their title at this moment, although that could change any second. (Update! Due to a pending law suit and possible Jerry Springer apperance to sort out our differences - I have to credit Moya for this humourous and yet inspirational quote).

Anyway, this is my first test in the world of blog.
