Feltham Rambles

I came across this on my PC just a moment ago and felt compelled to post it. It is somewhat old, but one of the best reads ever!

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers. Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less. We buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses, and smaller families. More conveniences, but less time. We seem to have more degrees, but less sense. More knowledge and less judgment. More experts, and more problems. More medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much , spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, and get up too tired. We read too little, watch way too much TV and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our processions, but reduced our values. Talk too much, love to seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to our life, but cannot seem to add life to our years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space, but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted our soul.

We have conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information , to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the days of two incomes, but more divorces, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer up, to quiet down, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window, and nothing in the stockroom.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person will soon grow up and leave your side.

Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember to say 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it! A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose to either share this insight, or to just hit delete.

I decided to post this link of my world of Blog, it's from my cousin Matt who was reading my mind and posted this before I could post it.

I live in a 31 floor building so you can imagine that I am required take the elevator up and down from my apartment at least three or four times a day. Truth be told, I would rather take the stairs, but due to the geniuses in charge at the building the stairwells are about as confusing to me as George W Bush’s re-election. For example, you can leave my apartment and take the stairs to the main entrance, but I can’t enter the parking garage and vise-versa.

Since I am forced to take the elevator at least once a day I get caught in the trap of mindless conversation. You know the drill:

Complete Stranger: How are you doing?
Society pressured individual: Oh… I am going pretty well. How about you?
Complete Stranger: Fine, Thank you.
Society pressured individual: Oh that’s good (shit eating grin on their face).

Really what’s the point? Why has society pressured us to participate in this mindless conversation? When I speak to a random person I actually try to have a REAL conversation, not the same scripted mundane jibber jabber.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could just be a little more honest?

Complete Stranger: How are you doing?
Society pressured individual: Jesus Christ! I thought that would never ask!!! I woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and thought about slitting my throat. But, I figured hey, if I am leaving this cruel world than I might as well take a few people with me.

*Side Note – at this part of the conversation the troubled individual removes a rusty pair of scissors from his pouch (a skin pouch made from drowned puppies and spotted owl's that he has attached to his self like a kangaroo to hold his knife and city bus pass) and proceeds to stab the person to death.

Hmm… I got a little side tracked there, anyway, extreme as that was you get my point. I just wish that people would be a little more honest and give you the real truth instead of feeling pressured to pretend that everything is peachy cream.

Back to my real problem with the elevator…

It seems that every time I come down to the main entrance and get ready to get off the free ride, some asshole it pushing his way into the elevator. Am I alone here, or do I have the right away?

Whenever I am at the main entrance waiting for the elevator to come down, I stand a little ways back and wait for the passengers to get off first before I proceed to get on. You would think that this is common sense right? No! Why these morons feel the need to jump on the elevator before anyone else gets off is beyond me. It's actually a simple process a) wait for the people who are coming down to get off first b) then you proceed to get on and make it to your desired floor.

As each day goes by I realize more and more that common sense is really not that common.

While drinking my after lunch coffee, I was browsing around the internet for a moment and stumbled upon this site. I was thinking, man this is terrible, but then I realized it was my indeed my own site.

Posting for the sake of posting…

We spent last week in California on business and then Carrie and I drove over to Las Vegas for a couple of days. Vegas was interesting to say the least and this will not be my last time heading out there.

Well, I am busy with a small army of consultants, my coffee is finished and now it is time to get back to work, or whatever the hell it is that I do here.

Don’t let the man get you down.

I thought that I had seen it all... That was until last Friday when I received the email which you just viewed above. (Please note! The names have been changed to protect the guilty). This email was without a doubt the most unprofessional piece of communication sent out to the company by our mass email happy receptionist.

A distribution list of about 300 employees at our two local offices were insolently interrupted from their work to read about some tightfisted individual trying to make a quick dollar selling his unwanted McDonald's.

This is so hard to grasp on so many different levels. For starters I have a hard time believing that people actually eat at McDonald's, but that is beside the point. If for whatever reason that I was in the wrong state of mind and bought McDonald's and then decided that I didn't want it, I would cut my losses short and THROW IT AWAY!!! (well actually I would proberly trade it to a crack head downtown and have him wash my car and shine my shoes, but I won't admit to that... shit I just did... Shhhh!)

Since I have never had the pleasure of purchasing a Quarter Pounder meal before, I did a little research and found out that this great meal costs a whopping $4.09. I have no idea what the salary of John Doe is, but one could only assume that he will still be able to pay the power bill at the end of the month after taking a loss of $4.09. If not, is selling this meal and getting an extra two dollars going to really make a difference? What in the hell are you going to do with two measly dollars? Go to the Casino, bet it all on black at the roulette table and walk away with four dollars!?! Even then you are still nine cents short of another Quarter pounder.

Perhaps I should trade in the Jetta for a Delorean with a flux capacitor, hit 88mph and head back to last Friday. Once back in time, I would of course pick the winning numbers for the lotto. Since I knew that I was about to win the lotto and that I could afford two dollars, I would purchase the Quarter Pounder meal from John Doe and punt it across the parking lot.

Used McDonalds for sale... Jesus Christ... I have seen it all.

How in the infamous “Land of the Free” can the citizens of this country sit back and let the powers in charge get away with this total lack of freedom. The same freedoms that your government will preach you have and try to jam down the throats of the rest of the world. When in reality freedom is something that you do not really have and this is a perfect example.

When this 13-year-old youngster gives birth to this child and has to begin to raise it, will there be a welfare system left to support this child? My answer would be that the same right winged imbeciles that tell her that she can’t have this child will properly have that system reined no-existent. A small handful of us in the world without blinders on know that it’s all about the rich getting rich and the poor getting poorer. But, how can the fat cats keep getting richer when only the dumb people on this earth seem to be breeding, and then they force them to procreate even when the mother makes a choice not to?

The State of Florida speaks of a lack of maturity, I do agree that there is something lacking in maturity and that is this girl’s ability to raise this child. As optimistic as one could be, you have to agree that this baby’s chance of becoming a contribution to society is about as high as my chance in being the next Governor of Florida.

Abortion is not something that people should be performing on a regular basis, but it is a medical procedure that is available to be used in extreme cases. Cases such as rape, incest and maybe in cases such as a 13-year-old pregnant with a child that she does not have the capacity to raise nor the desire to birth the child.

Perhaps it’s an outside view looking in, but I would find it hard to believe that any educated person would disagree that The United States is separating its self from everything that it once stood for. The civil liberties that the people of this great nation once took for granted are being striped away at an alarming rate. The Government is slowly removing all power from the state and citizens to a centralized supremacy. This nucleus which is run by a handful of bible bumping hillbilly’s, is taking away a piece of this countries freedom with each breath of polluted air they take.

Lobby your government! Do not let the woman’s choice to decide be the next freedom that you loose.

Florida girl has abortion blocked

Some say forcing a 13-year-old to give birth is illegal and
cruel
A pregnant 13-year-old girl in Florida has been told she cannot have an
abortion because she lacks the maturity to make such a decision.

A state court granted an injunction which prevents the girl from
terminating her pregnancy.
She is three months pregnant and had planned to
have an abortion on Tuesday of this week.
The American Civil Liberties Union
says it will launch an urgent appeal against the ruling.

'Too young to choose'

Florida's department of children and families intervened and took the
matter to court, arguing the teenager, who is under the care of the state, is
too young and immature to make an informed medical decision. Judge Ronald
Alvarez in Palm Beach accepted that argument and has granted a temporary
injunction and psychological evaluation, which effectively blocks her from
terminating the pregnancy.

It is a case which, once again, plays into the heated and divisive
debate about abortion in America.

The judge's ruling comes in spite of Florida state law which
specifically does not require a minor to seek parental consent before an
abortion.

The American Civil Liberties Union 's executive director in Florida,
Howard Simon, said forcing a 13-year-old to carry on an unwanted pregnancy to
term, against her wishes, is not only illegal and unconstitutional, it is cruel.
